Chandra Salvi Harrington

Chandra Salvi Harrington is a fourth-generation Cantabrigian; her great-grandparents settled in Cambridge in the 1880s. Her mother, Takako Sato Salvi, was the first African American graduate of the Cambridge Hospital School of Nursing and was one of the founding members of the Cambridge African American Heritage Alliance, the predecessor of the CBHP. Chandra’s career in the nonprofit sector includes work in the areas of housing, career development for Black and Hispanic youth, and over twenty years in museum management. She is a Cambridge Historical Commissioner, a member of the Cambridge Preservation Act Committee, and a former councilor at the Cambridge Historical Society (now History Cambridge). Chandra is CBHP’s treasurer and the driving force of CBHP’s oral history project.
