CBHP’s Juneteenth Program was held on June 19th of 2022 to recognize and remember the lives of Jane and Cicely, two young girls who were enslaved and are now buried in the Cambridge Old Burial Ground. Cicely was enslaved by the Reverend William Brattle and passed away at 13 years of age in 1714, and Jane was enslaved by Andrew Bordman and passed away at 22 years of age in 1740. The event was marked by a poetry reading from Paula Paris, a prayer from Rev. Dan Smith, a moment of silence as flowers were placed at each gravesite and a harmonica rendition of the song “Going Home” by Sumner McClain.
